1. About StanMowing
StanMowing is a neighborhood lawn care service operated by Stanley Hill, age 12, under the direct supervision of his parent and legal guardian, Michael Hill.
Michael Hill provides oversight on business decisions, communications, and scheduling. Stanley earns and keeps his own money — this is his business. He performs lawn care work under parental guidance.
By requesting a quote, scheduling service, or allowing StanMowing to perform work on your property, you ("Customer") agree to the following terms.
2. Minor Operator Acknowledgment
Stanley Hill is a minor (age 12). By hiring StanMowing, you acknowledge that you are aware a child will be performing lawn care work on your property under the supervision of his parent/guardian.
The Customer acknowledges and agrees that:
- Stanley is a 12-year-old minor operating a lawn care business as a learning experience under parental supervision
- Michael Hill (parent/guardian) provides oversight on business and legal matters. Stanley earns and manages his own income
- Stanley's work schedule respects school hours and child welfare standards
- Customer communications may be handled by Michael Hill on Stanley's behalf
3. Services & Scope
StanMowing provides:
- Lawn mowing — full yard mow (front and back) with a push mower
- Edge trimming — available as an add-on along driveways, sidewalks, and flower beds
StanMowing does not provide and will not perform: tree trimming, landscaping, herbicide or pesticide application, irrigation work, heavy machinery operation, roof or gutter work, or any service requiring professional licensing.
4. Pricing & Payment
- All quotes are tailored to each yard based on size, condition, and requested services
- Base mowing starts at $40. Final price is confirmed after Stanley checks out the yard
- Payment is due at time of service or within 7 days
- Accepted: cash, Venmo, Zelle, or card (via Stripe). All payments go directly to Stanley's business account
- No contracts. No long-term commitments. Cancel anytime with 24 hours' notice
5. Customer Responsibilities — IMPORTANT
The Customer is responsible for preparing their property before each service. Failure to do so may result in property damage or injury that the Customer assumes responsibility for.
Before each scheduled service, the Customer must:
- Walk the yard and remove all obstacles, debris, toys, sports equipment, garden tools, hoses, and any objects that could be struck by a mower
- Pick up all pet waste from the yard
- Secure all pets indoors or away from the work area for the duration of service
- Ensure gate access if the backyard is fenced
- Mark or flag any underground utilities, irrigation lines, sprinkler heads, invisible fence wires, or sensitive landscaping that is not clearly visible
- Notify StanMowing in advance of any hazards, uneven terrain, holes, stumps, or dangerous conditions on the property
StanMowing is not responsible for damage to items left in the yard, damage to unmarked underground installations, or incidents resulting from undisclosed property hazards.
6. Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver
This is a liability waiver. Please read carefully before requesting service.
The Customer acknowledges that lawn care involves outdoor work with power equipment and carries inherent risks, including but not limited to:
- Debris (rocks, sticks, glass) thrown by mower blades
- Noise from equipment operation
- Minor cosmetic damage to lawn edges, flower beds, or landscaping borders
- Temporary ruts or tracks in soft or wet ground
- Accidental contact with unmarked sprinkler heads, garden lights, or shallow-buried items
By requesting service from StanMowing, the Customer:
- Assumes the inherent risks of lawn care services performed on their property
- Agrees not to hold Stanley Hill or Michael Hill personally liable for minor property damage that is typical of lawn care (e.g., nicked sprinkler heads, edge wear, thrown debris marks) when the Customer has fulfilled their preparation responsibilities in Section 5
- Agrees that any claims for property damage must be reported to Michael Hill within 48 hours of service at hello@stanmowing.com
- Acknowledges that Stanley is a minor and that the work quality, while diligent and supervised, reflects a young person's developing skills
This waiver does not apply to damage caused by gross negligence or intentional misconduct.
7. Property Access & Safety
- Stanley will only enter areas of the property that have been agreed upon for service
- The Customer grants StanMowing permission to access their property on scheduled service days during agreed-upon hours
- If unsafe conditions are found on arrival (aggressive animals, severe hazards, unsafe terrain), Stanley or Michael may decline to perform service without penalty
- Stanley will not enter the Customer's home for any reason
8. Weather & Cancellation
- Service may be delayed or rescheduled due to rain, storms, extreme heat, or unsafe conditions
- Either party may cancel or reschedule with 24 hours' notice
- No cancellation fees. This is a no-contract service
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Iowa law:
- StanMowing's total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim
- StanMowing is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- The Customer's sole remedy for dissatisfaction with service is to discontinue using StanMowing
10. Indemnification
The Customer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Stanley Hill and Michael Hill from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:
- The Customer's failure to prepare their property as required in Section 5
- Undisclosed hazards or dangerous conditions on the Customer's property
- Injury to Stanley or damage to his equipment caused by conditions the Customer failed to disclose or remedy
11. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes shall first be resolved through direct communication between the Customer and Michael Hill. If informal resolution is not possible within 30 days, disputes shall be governed by the laws of the State of Iowa and resolved in the courts of Polk County, Iowa (Des Moines).
12. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
13. Agreement
By checking the agreement box on the quote request form, calling, texting, or otherwise engaging StanMowing for service, the Customer acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to all terms in this document.
14. Changes
These terms may be updated at any time. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of StanMowing services constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
